God once took a man into a valley full of bones and asked him a question nobody could answer.

Not a few bones. The valley was full of them. And the Bible makes a point of saying they were "very dry" (Ezekiel 37:2). These weren't recently dead. These were long gone.

Then God asked the prophet Ezekiel: "Son of man, can these bones live?"

Ezekiel's answer is one of the most honest lines in the whole Bible:

"O Lord GOD, thou knowest." (Ezekiel 37:3)

In other words: I honestly have no idea. You tell me.

So God told him to speak to the bones. And the valley started to rattle. Bone snapped to bone. Then came sinews. Then flesh. Then skin. Then breath. And they stood up on their feet, "an exceeding great army." (Ezekiel 37:10)
